Marie-Pierre Dubé, Ph.D., Director
Marie-Pierre Dubé is Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Université de Montréal. She holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine and is an accredited member of the departments of Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics. She is a Principal Investigator at the Montreal Heart Institute where she founded the Statistical Genetics Research Group. She is also the recipient of a Chercheur Boursier award from the FRSQ.
Dr. Dubé received a B.Sc. in biology (1994) and a Ph.D. (1999) for work in statistical genetics at McGill University. She conducted post-doctoral studies in genetic epidemiology at Women’s College and University of Toronto. She worked for four years at Xenon Pharmaceuticals where she was head of the Statistical Genetics team in Montreal and Vancouver until 2004.
Dr Dubé has authored over 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as book chapters and patents. She has been involved in several pharmacogenomic studies and she is the principal investigator of a large prospective pharmacogenomics study on anticoagulation therapy supported by CIHR and CepMed.

Jean-Claude Tardif, M.D., Clinical Director
Director, Montreal Heart Institute Research Institute
Dr. Jean-Claude Tardif is professor of medicine at the Montreal Heart Institute, where he also serves as a cardiologist and Director of the Research Centre.
Dr. Tardif graduated from Université de Montréal with his medical degree in 1987 and completed his fellowship in cardiology in 1992. He then completed a research fellowship at the New England Medical Center, Tufts University in 1994. Returning to Montréal, he took up a position as cardiologist at the Montreal Heart Institute that same year. Dr. Tardif is the Director of the Cardiovascular Health Network of the Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec and also holds the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Pfizer Chair in Atherosclerosis.
Dr. Tardif has authored and co-authored more than 400 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed publications including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Journal of the American Medical Association, Circulation and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. In addition, he has written 25 book chapters and has edited several books. He is the principal investigator of several large international clinical trials in the field of atherosclerosis, as well as principal investigator, with Dr. Michael Phillips, of the Genome Canada/Genome Quebec project, “Pharmacogenomics of Drug Efficacy and Toxicity in the Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease.”
Christopher Beck, Director of Bioinformatics
Mr. Beck has been with the Pharmacogenomics Centre since its inception in 2005. His team’s efforts concentrate on the development, implementation, and integration of Bioinformatics algorithms to convert genome information into knowledge. Medical and Clinical Informatics solutions are being designed to facilitate data transfer and the translation of genomic information into the clinic while abiding by stringent FDA and Health Canada standards.
